When should I complete a degree plan?

An MPA candidate should complete and submit a degree plan to The Graduate School after 12 graduate credit hours have been completed. The form can be picked up from The Graduate School or the MPA Program Director’s office. The form must be signed by your advisor, the Program Director, the Dean of the School of Public Affairs, and the Dean of The Graduate School.

When can I enroll in PAD 700 – Internship?

Once an MPA Candidate has completed 24 graduate credit hours, he or she may enroll in PAD 700 – Internship. The internship course is only offered during the Summer Session.

How do I obtain an internship?

The MPA candidate is responsible for locating his or her own internship. The internship must be approved by Dr. Michael O. Adams, who is the MPA Program Internship Coordinator.

When can I sign to take the MPA Comprehensive Examination?

Once the MPA candidate has completed all core courses (PAD 500, 502, 503, 504, 507, 509, 631, and 640), he or she may sign up to take the MPA Comprehensive Examination. The exam is normally given in October (during the Fall) and March (during the Spring). When signing up to take the exam, it is important to bring your transcript to the Program Director for evaluation and to sign a Comprehensive Examination Statement.

Is there a difference in overall financial aid for conditional and unconditional students?

Yes. Graduate student receiving financial aid who are conditional normally receive less financial aid than unconditional students.

Who advises me as an MPA Candidate in the program?
